Jaime Cepero Also Stars on NBC’s “Smash”

At the January gathering of the Television Critics Association (TCA), the new NBC series Smash is introduced at a press conference that includes eight executive producers (including Steven Spielberg and series creator, Theresa Rebeck) and eight series regulars (including Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Katherine McPhee and Megan Hilty).

 They are bombarded with questions by the 150-plus attending TCA members for close to 45 minutes, Also sitting amongst the cast members onstage is Boston-born Puerto Rican American Jaime Cepero.  He is not asked one question during the conference; but he is quite chatty afterwards. Cepero laughs, “With Spielberg, Angelica Huston, Debra Messing, Kat (McPhee) and Megan around, who wants to talk to me.  This is my first TV series.”

Wilmer Valderrama “Awake” at NBC/Universal

At the recently concluded semi annual meeting of the Television Critics Association (TCA) in Pasadena, CA, sitcom vet Wilmer Valderrama (That ‘70s Show) is enjoying his opportunity to discuss his participation in an actual drama program, NBC’s Awake, a fantasy crime drama series that is scheduled to debut Thursday, March 1 (10p), created by Kyle Killen, exec produced by Killen and Howard Gordon. Valderama chuckles, “You know, after doing eight years and 200 episodes of easily the silliest character anybody could ever create, I was very excited to explore the rest of my skills.

Univision Fails to Impress at TCA

Univision Orchestrates Minimal Questions by Press to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony

At the recently completed winter meeting of the Television Critics Association (TCA), held at the Langham Hotel in Passadena, it appeared that Univision, the major network for U.S. Latinos, would pull a scheduling coup by holding a Saturday morning breakfast session for the press, featuring the much-publicized husband-and-wife producing team of Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez. The couple had announced the formal separation from their seven-year marriage on July 15, 2011, but remain contractually entwined in many projects, including the televised transcontinental Q’Viva competition, which is scheduled to premiere Jan 28 on Univision. Anthony, Lopez and Jamie King serve as creators and producers of the series, which conducts a talent search for singers, dancers, musicians and other performers throughout Latin America.
