
Julio Martinez celebrates his 22th year as the weekly host of KPFK Radio’s Arts in Review, airing Thurdays (noon to 12:30pm PT on KPFK 90.7FM and simulcast worldwide over kpfk.org. When he is not celebrating L.A.'s amazing live performance scene on the radio, he is a theatre critic, Features Editor of latinheat.com and a regular contributor to L.A. Stage Magazine, the Writers' Guild monthly, Written By and Vergeofla.com His articles have appeared in Los Angeles Times Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Backstage West and Westways Magazine, among others. Julio is a published storyteller and stories are currently being podcast on storysalon.com and Iloveagoodstory.com. In an earlier life, he performed as a guitarist, arranger and music director for such singers as Al Jarreau, Sarah Vaughn, Helen Reddy, Irene Kral and others. He has also served as music director for the San Francisco Mime Troupe and The Committee Experimental Wing, as well directing the improv comedy troupe, Spontaneous Combustion.

Julio Martinez also moderates the weekly talk show "Arts in Review" on KPFK 90.7 public radio in the Southern California area. For over 20 years he has been host to a wide range of producing, performing, musical and visual artists and has come to be one of the richest resources in the area for what's new, rich and noteworthy in the LA area arts scene.
